Old tie-back, beads and a brooch!
It was a lovely afternoon on Saturday, so we went out for a drive, look what I found. A beautiful old tie back VERY shabby but still very chic. I loved the way it had faded to a soft golden colour. I love old tie backs and after having spent a night in the freezer I hung it on the end of the curtain pole in the bedroom where I think it looks very lovely.
I found the old tape too, only €1 and a little glass bottle of beads all different shapes and sizes, I couldn't really leave those behind, they're sure to come in for one project of another.
Finally, this is the brooch I started making the other day. I finished it off with some lace and a little hand stitching. I stitched a piece of felt on the back to stiffen it slightly and to attach the brooch pin to. I'm pretty pleased with it and it looks nice on my woolly jacket. What do you think?
Enjoy your Monday.
Take care.

You put it in the freezer? Am I missing something?! I like it though!
Your brooch looks great, I love the little heart with the beads on. The bottle of beads is adorable, I would have snapped that up too :)

Thanks for your comments. Lovely brooch & tie back. I'm going to explore your blog & shop now :)
What a lovely set of finds/crafts! Thanks for making a comment on my blog - it's been lovely to come over here and check out your doings! We have two sons in French schooling - ages 11 (6ieme) and 10 (CM2). What about your family?
Hello again, Nicky. Thanks for your reply! We are loving being in France, but as I scrolled down some of your most recent posts I see that we have hit many of the same frustrations as you... the paperwork, the fact that things you take for granted in one country turn out to be totally different in another... but it's very good for us, really.
As a teacher I find some things in the French education system admirable, but others VERY hard to swallow. Communal punishments have been one of my latest bug-bears, for my pupils and for one of my sons.
But that said, the whole experience of living here, of watching the boys become bilingual etc, has been great. We love the freedom - very few health and safety panics compared to the UK! And we love the fact we can afford a big house, although having bought it we don't have income enough to do much with it!
Our situation is probably different to yours, in that my husband left a dull UK job to come out and work for a French company. He enjoys the job and works very hard, so his time given over to work on the house and garden at the weekend is precious but all too short. We live outside Toulouse but still in the area where urban-sprawl-meets-countryside. There's lots going on and it's good to be here.
Such a cute brooch.....wonderful....lovely vintage tie back...xxxx
Thanks for the advice hun, I know what you're saying, on the day I went I definitely liked the school and there were things about it that seemed really good. I have rubbish judgement though I think, neither option seems any good at the moment :(
Hope you're OK xxx
Love the brooch - may have to commission you for my bags!
